Find an Attorney
If you don't know an attorney, and haven't needed one (other than a will), how do you find one you know is capable that you could call in something as serious as involvement in a shooting? I've asked friends and business aquaintances and not found any referals. The gun organizations I belong to don't seem to have an answer.

Typically, most clients locate attorneys based upon referrals from friends or family. Since most people don't have to hire criminal attorneys, it's usually much easier to get a referral for an attorney that practices in the civil law arena.
Whenever I get a request for a referral, I refer them to a man I know in Houston. He's with one of the best known criminal defense attorneys in Houston, which means his fees are higher than some people want to pay. He has been very good to refer them to someone else he trusts and whose fee structure is lower.
I would suggest calling Gene Hamm, II in Dallas and see if he could refer you to a criminal attorney.
