CAT M4 AR also known as a Combat Applications Tool

Post by Abraham »

I've read this particular AR cleaning tool is terrific - makes cleaning your BCG a breeze.

Others say, it's a waste of money.

Thoughts?

I have one and it falls just about in the middle between the two opinions you cited. It works, but not as easily as advertised.

I watched a [blurry] YouTube video that demonstrated the use of this tool.

It didn't seem to do anything better than a brass brush could do.

I just bought one. I have not had the opportunity to use it yet. I am looking forward to see if it does make it a little easier to clean.

I use a lot of Tetra Gun Spray that works real well.

I suspect it would work really well on heavy fouling - but I don't let my guns get to that point. Light fouling takes more effort to clean off using this tool. It does reach into the bolt carrier well for scraping the bottom of that recess.

:iagree: Since this is touted as a "Combat Applications Tool", it seems geared towards extended field use rather than for a typical day at the range.

I have a tool I bought from Botach.com for $15.00 that works great free shipping.

Gunner4640,

Does it look similar in design to the CAT M4?

If it is, I read a review about it and many of the reviewers stated it would cut you if you didn't handle it just so...

How long ago did you buy it, because if it's the one similar in design to the CAT M4 they now cost $20.00 and you pay freight.

However, if the deal you made for it is still available, please advise as the CAT M4 is about double cost of the Botach model and I'll take my chances on being cut.

Thanks!
