I'm with these guys that the extended mag is the problem. If it was completely inside of the grip, I doubt it would have broken.

You scared me when you said "cold trickle." I thought, uh oh, this is going to be a bad story! Like Overeasy said though, you have to keep your eyes off of all those hot chicks! Okay, that's just impossible...

Glad the reality check was easy enough to cash.

I tell people not to use those "plug" inserts in their Glocks for that very reason. Some people cut out half-moon's at the bottom of the grip as well, to help with a magazine failure extraction.

Naw, he meant your own response. Pick up a copy of Dave Grossman's On Combat. Or maybe I can bring you mine when I get over there.

Y'know, it's hard for me to remember a reported Glock malfunction that wasn't attributable to the magazine. I stick with factory mags and no modifications (including my G27 which is a hoot to try to shoot accurately at 25 yards with no mag extension).

I like Glocks. I own a few.

But I carry a 1911.

I know it's late but welcome to the forum. I've shot with your brother at Top Gun and I wish you guys the best of luck with the new shop. I'm sure you've had plenty of offers for help so I won't bore you with another.

On the Glock, I can say I've had a similar experience. I'd shown up to say hello to friends and got talked into shooting a match with my carry gun/gear and ammo. My magazine spilled it's contents when I fired round number 5 on the very first stage. Fortunately, I had a spare magazine and was able to fix the problem in a little less than 3 seconds. Still, it was an eye-opener for me at that time. A fight can be over in a lot less than three seconds.

The Kareen you mentioned is little more than a copy of the FN/Browning Hi Power as you already know. I've only ever seen one and like every other Hi Power I've handled, it worked just fine. The claims made in the video are suspicious to me but that's typical marketing hype I suppose. The fact is, so long as they are true to the original design, they'll have an accurate and reliable pistol.
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

I found a tool that makes the dissasembly of a Glock Mag a breeze, and doesn't effect the way its supposed to stay together...

Actually someone told me about it...My forehead became a bit reddened by the smacking motion I put on it...

Thats interesting about the Kareen product(s)...
Is this the tool? http://rhinopunch.com/

Local guy makes these. Worth every penny.
Nope...But that is an interesting tool there...

Well, from what has been happening with this discussion, its like everything else with firearms...

Sometimes they fail...Depends on a lot of things...

But if you are familiar with the product, and it works for you, most try to find a way to wrap around the eccentricities of the product and move on...

I only own one Glock, and I've had it for a little over 8 years...No failures to feed and or fire in that time, and the 8500-9000 rounds I've put through it, to me is a fairly light workout...

It's my primary carry weapon, and its the one I feel most comfortable with...I just don't have to think about it that much...

Yes, I have added the "pinky" extension to the magazines for that G23, and with all the horsing around I did to get the dirn things on there in the past, they have functioned flawlessly in that time...

I didn't get mine because it happens to be the most popular concealed carry pistol I have ever heard of in these forums...

It was starting to become that at the time...

But of course there are exceptions, and some are kinda funny, good stories to sit back and cause you to think about this stuff...

I am of the opinion that people should have fun in the journey of picking out a firearm for this purpose and seeing if it works out for you, whether its a .380 Bersa in a Waffle House, or a Les Baer "Thunder Ranch" .45 in a multiple attacker nightmare senario...

The bottom line in any situation is how "you" function, almost more than the firearm itself...

That basically says it all...As Mac has pointed out, even Glocks fail.

GC told us about his incident with the "Failproof" Glock. He went to his backup mag, and stayed in the fight (sounds like someone has the right mindset  ).

The sad truth is weapons systems fail, some more then others, but sooner or later, they all do. Hopefully when it happens to you, it will be crossing a parking lot, shooting in a match, or some other place where only the ego takes a hit. Small price to pay for a good lesson if it gets you thinking...

We should all train ourselves in how we will respond when old reliable fails, jams, or runs dry. The last thing you do on this earth shouldn't be standing there with a dumb look on your face thinking "that's never happened before".

Mac, hang on to that G-26, it's a fine weapon. Mine is turning into my 2nd most carried CHL weapon, and reliability/capacity are some big reasons why.

I carry with the mag extensions. Yes, they are more prone to failure, but the extra round count is worth the risk to me. After all, the mag failures are relatively rare, and I always carry a spare.

Now if you want to use this as a reason to buy a different weapon, by all means, do so! Any reason to buy pistol is a good reason

Just to clarify, I do not install the "extra round(s)" magazine extensions...

I only use the baseplate that has the extra finger groove...

That probably why I have not had a problem...

But then again, anything mechanical... ;-)

Was I that transparent??? Hahahah! Great post, Rancher. You are exactly right. I guess the point of my story was just to "practice" how I'm going to justify a new gun purchase to the powers that be....the "powers" being my wife.

Simple Mac tell her your gun fell apart at the Gym and a beautiful woman helped you pick up the pieces then she hit on you for Coffee and a date!
Ask her should I go meet her or just get a new gun that wont fall apart?

You know what the answer will be.

I absolutely know what the answer will be! Its ringing in my ears now....

".....(blah) (blah) (blah) (something) (blah).... IF SHE'S WILLING TO PUT UP WITH YA, THEN SHE CAN HAVE YA!! (blah blah blah blah) What were you doing at the gym ANYWAY?? Do you not have enough work to do today? Am I going to have to get a job and save this family from financial ruin because you are too busy working out to go to work??? (words words words words words words words words words) I swear to you if you spend one more red cent of OUR money on ANOTHER gun, then I'm going to leave anyway! (something something something) Now give me your debit card, I have to get my hair cut and colored today and then I'm meeting my friends at the mall to try on new boots, skirts, and jewelry...."

If only I were kidding...
