Things to do around Orlando?

Post by Syntyr »

Hey all,

Just got back from visiting son in law at Fort Hood... boy did I feel naked with out my firearm! I learned I have to go to Orlando next month. I have found that I can visit the Navy SEAL museum at Ponce Florida but does any one have anything else to do or see? And before anyone pipes up... NO mouse world and I dont do the beach thing... might be mistaken for sealife and harpooned... :smilelol5: I am working on that ;)

Thanks

Have always liked Universal Studios and not far to Busch Gardens. What's wrong with Disney World? Of course when we go we have grandson with us. I don't care for Seaworld.

Best thing to do in Orlando is to LEAVE! :smilelol5:
You will have more things to do and more fun if you go to Daytona or Tampa-ST. Pete.

Orlando is too congested and Humid. Too far from the ocean.
Guns are like parachutes, if your ever in a situation that you need one and you dont have one, you'll probably never need one again.

I visited Kennedy Space Center in 2011. Very interesting and a lot of historical items on display.
The Daytona track also has a great tour.

When we lived there, 30 years ago, you could always find some 'action' on the SOBT.

Get yourself out to the Kennedy space center/Cape Canaveral. There are two very good guided tours there, plus a rocket park that puts all others to shame. Also, not far from the space center there's a law enforcement museum that is both interesting and very moving. One of the exhibits there is the Fort Worth squad car of a FWPD officer who was shot and killed just a few years ago.....can't think of his name off the top of my head as I'm typing this.

The beaches at Coco Beach are real nice this time of year (we stayed at the Best Western Coco Beach, right on the sand). There are also some nearby kayak tours of the bayous which are also managed preserves.

I really enjoyed my trip there and would gladly go back. Coco Beach is about 40 minutes west of Orlando.

I agree on Cape Canaveral...we like the beach too. Anything to get out of Orlando. I had two conferences there last year and took the family to one of them.

Go northwest of Orlando to Silver Springs State Park just outside of Ocala. Silver Springs is where the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies from the 30's and 40's were filmed. Several other movies were filmed there as well. It is really beautiful.
