This is not his CHL class (which is probably excellent also, but I cannot say first-hand), but a couple of times per year he does a "special" class. Do whatever you have to do to get to one, just do it.
Glad you mentioned this!!

Does he post an announcement on here? I was looking through the class forums & didn't see anything.

That's nuts. You're telling me it's acceptable to the state of Texas for instructors to teach false information?infoman wrote:You can't revoke someone's instructor certification for that.

Hearing horror stories like this makes me so grateful I got to take the class with Charles.Selina Kyle wrote:I would love to attend this!! Welcome to the forum OleWar and my apologies for having to endure what sounds like a painful CHL class. I encourage you to send a report to the DPS about this instructor, not for you, but for all of the new or inexperienced people that will be taking his class and receiving poor instruction and bad information.

It absolutlely is not acceptable to the DPS. When they receive complaints about instructors, they follow up on them and investigate. They may put someone in his class undercover to see exactly what is being taught. All active instructors are audited regularly for accuracy of their records. In the event the instructor is teaching in error or breaking the law, he or she will be either corrected or suspended, revoked or even prosecuted depending on what the infraction is. The DPS is proud of and protective of its CHL program.baldeagle wrote:That's nuts. If my memory is working, Sherrie said DPS has never audited a class. That's why we don't need to fill out the class notification form any more.TexasGal wrote:It absolutlely is not acceptable to the DPS. You have to do something extremely bad to get revoked. It's a big legal thing, it's extremely hard for DPS to revoke someone from a legal point of view.

I know we do not have to do a class notification anymore but I did not recall being told they do not ever send someone to audit a class of an instructor who has a complaint against them. If so, then I stand humbly corrected.sjfcontrol wrote:If my memory is working, Sherrie said DPS has never audited a class. It's also difficult when the DPS' own lawyer gives out false information. Remember when she said that any gunbuster sign was sufficient notice? I think someone on here is who contacted her and relayed that stunning opinion.sjfcontrol wrote:If my memory is working, Sherrie said DPS has never audited a class. Again depending on my memory (and perhaps unreliable info), but I seem to recall that that "lawyer" was no longer with the CHL department.C-dub wrote:It's also difficult when the DPS' own lawyer gives out false information. Re: New User Several General Questions
Like many here, my CHL class experience left something to be desired. Not that it was unexpected, I've been to many seminars/classes and as such, I came with low expectations and a single goal, to get my CHL license. That was achieved and I figured that I could pick up the slack. I downloaded and read the entire law concerning CHL, which helped. But, the most valuable resource that I've found so far has been this website. So, thanks to everyone here who make a honest effort to assist or educate.

That's what the evidence suggests. I'm not saying they encourage it but they certainly appear to condone it.baldeagle wrote:That's nuts.
