The above link will allow you to start a 2 minute, 18 second video of 2 Rosenberg, TX LEO's, in their cruiser,
lipsynching the Katy Perry song "Dark Horse".

It's not the most exciting performance I've seen, but it's unique that LEO's are doing it onduty, in uniform.

I have no idea who Katy Perry is, and that ain't my kind of music, but that was cool on many levels.

I really wanted to dislike this video, but as I watched it I became more and more enchanted.

At the ending, when the female officer sunburst smiles and murmurs a few words, I was completely won over...

Rosenburg PD has been doing a lot of great social media work. I've got family down there & are constantly liking their posts so I see a lot of them. There was a great one of an officer stopping to toss the pigskin around with a young kid too. It's all on their facebook & I gotta tell ya, it leaves a good impression on the community if it's doing for them what it's doing for me.

This is no different than a cop walking a beat 40-50 years ago, and stopping for a few minutes to doo-wop with the kids hanging out on the corner. Those kids know the cops as their protectors and mediators, and in some cases, as friends. This is the side of police work that counteracts the over-militarized image of no-knock warrants and jackbooted thuggery. Police departments that master the art of communicating that their officers are IN and FROM the community they are policing are the departments that will have to resort to thuggery far less often than their peers in other cities.

I realize that the general culture has coarsened, society is more fragmented than many of us thought we'd ever see, and racial divisions are threatening to overwhelm us again; and this makes police work more difficult, and in some cities in particular, it makes community policing more difficult. But those departments than can find a way to creatively engage with their public.....like this one has....are the ones that are going to have FAR better interactions with the communities they police.

At least, that's my 2¢.
