can anyone ID this gun?
This was given to me, I know its in terrible shape but I wouldlike to know what it is?I took it to a gun shop and the guy tried to look it up in a book but could not find it. He said the gun is very old and was well used. The only markings on it are the engraving work on the frame. I cannot get the grips off so I dont know if there are marking under them It is a 5 shot. The closest gun I can find with the wedge in it is a Colt Dragoon
Thanks
Thanks

Looks to be an 1849 Pocket Revolver. The grip screw is throwing me off though. So is the cylinder, it looks too big for the frame and there is no forcing cone.
It looks similar to a Colt Walker.

There should be markings on the top of the barrel if it is a Colt.

I bought a better magnifing glass and found a number on the bottom of the frame 5567

Re: can anyone ID this gun?
The grip frame is not quite right for an 1849 pocket colt and the lack of a forcing cone is extremely odd for a pocket colt. A Walker would be an entirely different animal to that beastie. Can you get us some larger and higher res photos? preferably from each side top and one from the back some detail around the hammer. I am going to say from what we can see you probably have some unlicensed copy of a pocket colt.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?
