Ruger intro's the 9E. Similar to the SR9 @ lower price point

The above link is to Ruger's new 9E pistol. It is a 9MM semi-automatic pistol which is very similar to the SR9
but at a more affordable price. It's a rugged Ruger, will fit SR9 holsters, and comes with one 17 round magazine,
for $100 less than the more full-featured SR9.

Seems like a good value, IMHO

Not a fan of Ruger's unhelpful "magazine disconnect." Yes, I know you can modify the gun to eliminate that issue, but there's plenty of other choices without a magazine disconnect.

Good luck with that, Ruger. :tiphat:

(Note: If you don't mind the magazine disconnect, this seems like a pretty good value)

I see Ruger SR9's for $390 at gun shows all the time. How much lower do they think they need to go?

Turns out that removing the SR9 magazine disconnect can make the gun unreliable (striker fails to reset periodically), damage the striker, and will definitely cause Ruger to say the warranty is voided. Learned personally, the hard way.

The P series guns were built like tanks but I don't like their new stuff.

Scott Farkus:
You say you see SR9's regularly for $390 at gun shows.

Since the article states that the 9E will be about $100 cheaper, would that translate to a gun show
price for the 9E of $290??

Not necessarily. Margins are much smaller on lower-priced guns, so dealers have less to work with. Yes, it will be cheaper, but I'm not convinced it will be $100 cheaper in final cost back to the customer.

I predict $329 at Academy with regular sales events at $299. Same as the low end S&W 9mm.
