Trigger Job - S&W M60 - DFW

Does anyone know a competent gunsmith in the DFW area that can bob the hammer and do a trigger job on a S&W Model 60?

There is a new gun shop, Marksman Firearms on FM1187 west of Mansfield. I was told they had been able to hire one of the best in the DFW area to work for them. Might be worth checking out.

Doc's Gun Shop, Carrollton, TX helped me with my M60 Chiefs Special. Trimmed the hammer to a nub and removed the full cock engagement ledge.

The trigger stroke 'seems' smoother now. But my truck seems to run better after its had a bath, so I don't for sure about the trigger 'improvement'.

I understand the reason for wanting to bob the hammer, but the single action pull on a S&W 60 is one of the sweetest around.

I never had an issue with the hammer catching on clothing while drawing. Just cover the hammer with your thumb while drawing the pistol out. Then your thumb is where it needs to be to cock the hammer. Then the trigger would not need any work as it is already fine.

Understood.

But just how would you 'lower' the cocked hammer w/o firing the loaded revolver?

Some might say that bobing the hammer w/o removing the single action ledge would be a big, large no-no. That includes me.

As an alternative, the owner could sell the M60 and buy one of the S&W 'shrouded' hammer designs.

Whatever works for you.
