Found some Garand Food
Private sale near me for $0.52 per round! By the sounds of it, the old guy took care of it (i.e. properly stored). I think I'll pull one bullet and have a lookit the guts n' such. I'm pretty stoked as I've never shot these in my Garand.

That is some accurate ammo. It's what Carlos Hathcock used when he was sniping with a Model 70 match rifle in Vietnam.

What a find!
I shot on USMC team out of 8th & I for two years. Lots of matches, lots of travel, and this is what we shot.
When getting for large matches, such as 2nd Marine Division, we spent about six weeks shooting every day. Mostly two rounds per day, 60 rounds each. If on the rifle team, we were considered alternates on the pistol team, as the pistol guys were alternates for us.
Each morning we passed the ammo truck, and told them what we needed. If shooting only one cycle, we told them two. That got us three extra 20 round boxes. We could also tell them we were going to the pistol range afterwards, so we got fifty rounds each of .22, .38 and .45. We would then either use it or trade it with the pistol guys for rifle ammo, as they did the same thing as we did, getting their pistol ammo, then saying they were going to shoot rifle too.
Many of us would meet them at the end of the day, and swap around ammo for whatever we wanted. When I left 8th & I for HMX-1, I had just over 800 rounds of this match ammo. Took a lot of time to shoot it all, but it sure was fun.
Times have really changed. At 8th & I , I had three garands assigned to me. I had my standard issued rifle, and two cased match rifles, along with a pistol box with a .22 Colt Woodsman, a .38 S&W revolver, and a highly massaged .45 colt. All this was kept in a wall locker in my squad bay along with piles of ammo.
Now nothing like this is allowed on any military base. As I said, things have really changed.

If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.
