Magazine holster/pouch

Post by bigity »

I carry a Springfield .40 XD Subcompact with the 12 round mags. I have been carrying an extra one in my change pocket in my jeans, but that is uncomfortable.

Are there any recommendations for a magazine pouch or holder? I carry IWB but my holster does not have a place to carry extra mags.

I like this one... Clips on my belt or on the top of a pocket in a pinch.

I have one something like that from Comp-Tac, which I use to carry spare mags for an XD(M)45 Compact 3.8:

The advantage of the Comp-Tac carrier is that you can adjust the tension to fit different sized magazines. I've used it to carry spare mags for a M&P45 and a Glock 19 too, besides using it for the XD(M). The design of the current model looks externally a little different than mine, which is several years old. The bottom of mine is slanted to match the top of the magazine instead of squared off like the picture on the Comp-Tac website, but it otherwise looks like it functions the same, and it's only $3 more.

I use a cheap WRB double mag pouch. They have singles too.

I just purchased a nylon double mag holder for my XDM-45 C and Sig P938 from Barsony. I have worn both and I hardly know they are there. Here is a linkhttp://www.barsonyholstersandbelts.com/ ... Categories

I carry OWB on my right side and a double mag carrier OWB Fobus paddle on my left. I've heard of and seen a few horizontal single mag pouches. Google "horizontal magazine pouch" and check out the images and you'll see what I'm talking about Here's just a couple of examples. I kind of like that double one and may think about trying it out sometime.

I use a couple of different models.
My favorite, by far, is the HSGI Pistol Taco. I know it looks "tactical", but it works for everything from a knife, multi tool, 1911/P226/M&P45/M9 mags to whatever you can fit in it. It attaches to your belt via a MALICE clip, but there are some aftermarket mods for attachment purposes.

For the horizontal (vertical option available too) I like using The Wilderness version. It is a combo of nylon and kydex. It actually form fits to your specific mag. And the way it attaches to your belt is pretty neat too. It wraps around your belt and velcroes to itself, pretty solidly too.

I also use a Bladetech dual mag for my 1911 thats decent. I have to alternate the way the mags sit (back of mag to back of mag) to keep tension on them. Apparently the single mag pouches are pretty good too.

All of these have held up to daily use as well as some fairly heavy abuse on the range, in the field and out in the woods.
