Suspect Killed in Little Rock Home Invasion
Thursday July 05, 2007 1:13pm

Little Rock (AP) - Little Rock police are investigating a home invasion in which one of the suspects was shot dead by one of the victims.

Police say the incident began early Thursday morning when someone knocked on the apartment door of 27-year-old Julian Armstrong and demanded to see someone named "Steve."

Armstrong told the person he had the wrong apartment. A while later, the man returned with a second person. Armstrong told police the men kicked in his door and that he exchanged gunfire with the second suspect.

Police say Armstrong sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and that the suspect was shot dead. Police say Armstrong's injury isn't life-threatening.

No name has been released for the dead suspect, and police said they have not been able to find the other assailant.

Police say the shooting occurred at 2:20 a.m.

Good to see at least one news source is able to correctly identify the victim.
And it was not the dead guy.

Robberies in Little Rock Up 60% Over Last Year
Thursday July 05, 2007 1:13pm

Little Rock (AP) - While violent crime has dropped slightly in Little Rock, Arkansas' capital city is suffering through a 60% increase in robberies compared to last year.

Police reported more than 530 robberies in the city by the middle of June, with 120 in May alone. The robberies occur throughout the city, but most frequently affect southwest Little Rock and the central part of the city south of Interstate 630.

The statistics are unmatched in Arkansas cities, as robberies rose slightly or not at all for the first half of the year in Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Jacksonville and Conway. Pine Bluff police reported 113 robberies through May, up from 78 compared to the same period last year.

The increase in robberies in Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pine Bluff follows the national trend--though at an exaggerated rate. According to the FBI, robberies increased nationally by 6% last year, the biggest jump of any violent crime.

A rare occurence when the MEDIA properly identifies who the victim is.

Heres hoping that stomach injury heals with no complications. It might not be life threatening but it could cause him trouble the rest of his life.
One of my neighbors was shot in the stomach about 5 years ago. Docs fixed him up real good. Last year he started having problems. Had to have surgery again, scar tissue or something.
Its a rough world out there, and there aint no guaranties.

Yall keep your powder dry.

I can't think of anything more scary than a home invasion. For one thing, the people kicking in the door probably know you're home. That means that they plan on doing something bad to you, your wife, your kids...whomever is there. That's a bad scenario. I have a gun on me at all times in my house, in the backyard, in the front yard when I'm mowing the lawn...etc.

govnor, you don’t need to carry around a gun. Actually, you shouldn't even own one, but if you must have one, it should be kept in a safe, empty, and preferably with a trigger lock in place. The longer it takes to get to it, the safer you and your family are. Preferably your safe enforces a three day waiting period, a note from the sheriff, and a background check from the BATF before it grants you access…

All you need to have is a cell phone to call 911 when the BG’s try to enter your house. After all, it will take them at least a couple of seconds to kick the door in, more then enough time for you to hit 9-1-1.

The police response will only take 15 min – 1 hour depending on where you live and how busy they are at the time of the call.

Yes, I know that response time is longer then it will take the BG’s to gain access to your home, but you can while away the additional time by giving the BG’s what they ask for. After all, resistance could just make the situation worse, heck, the BG’s may even get hurt and we don’t want that! I mean why would you want to hurt them, they're just victims of society! Besides, some of the time the BG’s don’t beat up the owner and molest his family, you'll probably be one of the lucky ones.

Also, you have insurance, so what are you worried about? Sure you will have to pay the deductible, fill out endless paper work, and of course not all will be covered…but at least some of the stuff will be covered. After all, these are small prices to pay to protect the rights and insure the safety of the BG’s forcing their way into your home.

So basically the best way to look at this situation is to think of the BG’s coming through your door as just another authority figure. Just practice giving in…say "yes sir" and "no sir"…"the money is in the bedroom"…"honey, don’t resist, you could make it worse"…and other things to be sure they understand you are absolutely no threat to them and they can do what they want...after all, that's natures way. It's exactly what sheep do when the wild dogs show up in the pasture. They mill around and comply until someone comes to save them, why should you be any different? After all, not all the sheep get killed...

I mean lets be real, all that’s at risk is possibly your life and that of your family…is that really worth carrying a gun for?

Rancher,

You have major sarcasm issues.

Well said, Rancher. I think you are right. As of today I will quit carrying my gun around the house. Actually, I'll take them all (it will be a big load) to the next gun "buy back" program that they have over in tha 'hood! That's the way any good liberal would do it. That way I can show the gang bangers that people like me are tired of carrying around guns and that we do not want to hurt anyone, no matter what the cost!

In fact, at that point I'll just hand them over whatever pittance I get from the anti-gun people. I don't need the money anyway since I have won the lottery of life and they deserve to have my money. I wonder what I would get for an AR-15? I don't know, but one less gun on the street is worth it! :biggrinjester:

I know a little bit about being on the receiving end here, and I can honestly say: I was so scared I could not even call to my friends in the other room, 10ft away.

least I didn't take two in the chest, though!!
