I was going to say something similar. However, my suggestion was to buy a higher-end Springfield, and use a good chunk of the remaining money on ammo for practice. Because no matter how good the firearm is, it is only as good as the operator (not counting VERY low end junk like a Jenningssrothstein wrote:Let me second the suggestion to get a less expensive gun until you know what the differences are and can tell on your own.
But, if I had that kind of budget, I would get a Springfield Armory that I would then have them run through their customizing shop to get exactly what I wanted (well, almost - I think the last time I priced it out, it came to around 2500).
