A few weeks back a new member posted that his EDC was a Polish P64.
I am unfamiliar with this handgun.
Could someone please provide some details on this firearm?

A few years ago a large number were imported into the U.S. and flooded the market. They were going for around $200. if I remember right. The supply seems to be drying up now.

I have a P64 so I will pass along what I know.
They are still available. You can find them here >> http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... x18+Pistol $259.95
They are all steel. DA / SA. 6 round single stack magazine. 9mm Makarov caliber (9x18). It is not a Makarov though. Some say it is a Walther PPK clone but it really isn't. Made in the 60's & 70's at the Radom plant in Poland for the Polish Police and Military. Very well made Very accurate. Straight blow back design.
De-cocker safety. European style mag release. Loaded chamber indicator.
If you have a C&R 03 FFL, you can have one shipped to you. A lot of good information can be found at http://www.p64resource.com
Shooting the P64:
Very snappy recoil, although this can be reduced some by replacing the recoil spring.
DA trigger pull is on the order of 25#. SA is around 6ish. Replacing the hammer spring will help with the DA pull. (both can be found at Wolff Springs).
The de-cocker safety utilizes a hammer block. You can carry it with one in the chamber, safety on, but it is not drop safe to carry cocked.
Very easy to take down and clean.
Hope this helps!

If you're standing still, you're loosing.
Re: Polish P64 - Details please.
Accurate, reliable as dirt, excellent value at under $200 (which they were about 6-7 years ago). Upgrade the springs with the kit from Wolf and you will have a tolerable DA trigger (still heavy). Before i changed the springs i used a large fish scale to check the DA trigger pull - i kid you not -35 lbs!
I found the SA trigger on mine a bit light so I made a new trigger return spring out of heavier gauge wire and now it's not bad. Recoil is very snappy. They are accurate but not fun to shoot. They are a good backup or small gun if you don't want to carry the heavy artillery. The 9x18 round is a bit more than the 380 but still no powerhouse. I load mine with Critical Defense ammo from Hornady. I painted the back side of the front sight blade bright white with Testors enamel paint. I also widened the rear sight groove just a bit to help sight picture.
I recommend you buy several extra magazines if you buy a P64 as I'm sure the supply will eventually dry up.
There are a couple of guys out there making custom grips for them and they help felt recoil.
Good quality handgun.
I've run across one that had a safety very hard to operate. A little work with a Dremel fixed it. They really are very similar to a Walther PPK. I holster mine in a PPK holster and the fit is perfect. The internals were definitely PPK inspired.
