Prayers to his family. Tragic. Sounds like he was trying to draw from the holster & finger was on trigger when drawing, and the tragedy happened. so sad.

smh. Gun safety is so important. It seems that, in far too many instances, law enforcement officers are either not well trained in gun safety or neglect to practice that training. Very sad.

I am not for sure how he shoot himself in the "groin." It seems like a hard place to shot yourself if drawing from your holster. I guess he hit the femoral artery.

Will be praying for his family and his LE family as well.

I could see this happening if he was drawing from appendix carry position.

Concealment holster? SmartCarry or Thunderwear, maybe?

I've always practiced laying my trigger finger on the outside of the holster where possible, and keeping it straight through the entire draw stroke, just to ensure that it can't get in the trigger guard that early. Basically, it ends up not even touching the gun until I'm at low ready, then I index it on the frame.

He could have just not been very cautious about where the barrel was pointing also. Could have dropped the pistol and snagged the trigger also. Unless they had cameras watching, I doubt anyone knows exactly what happened unless he told them. At least from the description, it doesn't appear to be a case of suicide.
