Not a big deal in Greenville

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Not a big deal in Greenville

Post by dude »

I got pulled over today for the first time since getting my CHL. I wasn't really carrying since my gun was under my seat in a locked case, but still...

I was on my way to JPGC to watch the Collin County IDPA match (I'd never been before). On my way out the north end of Greenville, I accelerated to ~55 MPH on a curve in the road that I thought was going to lead to open highway. Turns out there was more Greenville around that curve, a 45MPH speed limit, and a GPD cruiser sitting under the speed limit sign.

After handing him my DL & CHL:

LEO: Are you carrying today?
Me: I've got it locked up under the seat.
LEO: OK

Other than that short exchange, it was no different from any time I'd been pulled over before having a CHL.

It was great to see it treated just like a routine stop. There was no apprehension on the officer's part upon seeing my CHL, and definitely not any special treatment for being a CHL'er .

I can't help but wonder if he would have let me off with a warning if I'd had the gun on my hip... "big dummy, hauling a gun around in a locked case where he can't do anything with it!".
