CHAPPIE

A new movie from the South African director of "Distric 9" and "Elysium", Neill Blomkamp. Another future dystopian pic, which looks like a cross between "Short Circuit" and "iRobot", but even if it is utterly predictable, it should be fun to watch.

Prior to the above link, I had read nothing about this movie and have no prior knowledge of it.

From viewing the preview, I am left wondering if this is one more example of the left influencing culture by illustrating how human beings are awful, inherent racists.

Yeah......but if I let the message of every single movie determine whether or not I see it, I'd never see any movies. I don't have much use for hollywood claptrap. I watched an episode of "Forever" with my wife the other night. In it, the homicide detective main character is listening to her boss - another "strong female cop", hollywood style - as the boss is recounting the story of how she drew down and fired without hesitation when confronted with a killer. She said......and I quote....."I shot him in the legs, just like I was trained to do".

You either don't let that stuff get you too worked up, or you stay away from the movie/tv screen. I only avoid the ones where I can't staunch the bleeding from my eyes.

I saw that and had a good laugh. When it starts to make my eyes bleed, as you said, or strays too far from reality (getting past the immortalness of the main character), I'll quit watching. Until then, this show is pretty entertaining.

Thanks for the heads up, TAM. I hadn't seen this yet, but cannot wait for March.

Interestingly enough, the hyper-blonde girl is not in movie make up. Her and the guy in shorts without a shirt dress like that in real life. Every day. They are a rap-type group from South Africa. Weird songs, but fun to watch sometimes. Some of it goes way way over the top, but it's entertainment for some I guess.

Looks like Wall-E meets Johnny Five from "Short Circuit".

I enjoyed district 9 event with all the plot holes.

But the idea that a man built Intelligent System, would learn like humans or even care about things we do is a little arrogant.

They are members of the group "Die Antwood": http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Antwoord

Shucks. Thought someone had made a bio-pic on "Chappie" James.
