Recommend A Loud Hailer

Post by Abraham »

I'll soon be needing a hand held, battery powered, loudhailer to occasionally address groups of people outdoors.

Trouble is, I haven't a clue as to which one to buy.

It doesn't have to be a Rolls Royce quality as it's use will be infrequent, but I don't want to buy one that won't do a good job or quickly fall apart either.

Recommendations?

Thanks!

They range in price from $15.00 to $189.00. I had a difficult time finding one locally when I was looking for one for my daughter's swim team, but they are around.

Check these out to give you some idea:

They all look the same. Just about anything priced below $75.00 will sound like a mom & pop restaurant's drive-thru speaker on 11. And it will break.
My nephew has been using a Fanon 10w Megaphone calling "Little Britches" for about 10 years. You can understand every word. Dust, Mud, Rain, Poo. No problems.

Little Britches is Youth Rodeo. Stock is not known to be particular about where they evacuate their bowels. Anything(hats, scarves, keys, cell phones, ice cream cones, megaphones, etc.) dropped on the ground will be drawn to the freshest, runniest pile available.
As an aside, After a couple hundred mixed head of stock run around an arena for a day or two, churning all that poo into dust, I guarantee you that everybody on hand is breathing 3-400 mg/l poo also.

Thanks again all.

It looks like Fanon is the leader, if you can afford one.

Being fabulously wealthy, that's what I'll be getting. (sounds good, eh...?)

Just haven't decided on the model I'll be getting...?

Ah... thanks. I didn't know what Little Britches is, but having spent enough time around livestock when I was in college, I do understand that the poo does pretty much get everywhere.
