Introducing myself

Post by Magnawing »

Hello all...I currently reside in the People's Republik Of New Jersey...for four more weeks. I will be relocating to the Houston area in early January and my first order of business (after moving) is to get my TX CHL. It will seem weird to carry again after 25+ years of not doing so. I'm prior military and prior LEO. I obviously carried as a LEO and for a period of time afterward...until I moved back to my home state of MD, followed by a move to Philthadelphia and then to NJ. It will be great to get back to living in the USA again.

My wife and both kids (19 & 15) are all as excited about the move as I am. Where we live will ultimately be decided by schools. My son (15) has Asperger's and is currently enrolled and excelling in a Culinary program at our local vocational high school. So, wherever we find the school that fits him is where we'll live...at least until he graduates.

Too bad you're not headed to the DFW Metroplex. Our Byron Nelson High School has our Academy of Culinary Arts - they've got a couple of hot-shot chefs running the show over there, and have won several national awards in the couple of years the Academy has been going. I'm sure there's comparable programs in the Houston area - good luck on finding the right combination/location that suits everyone, and welcome back to Texas!

Hi Magnawing! Welcome to the forum and glad to have you with us. I think you'll find this a very friendly forum where friendships are made, and lots of target practice buddies are all over this great State.

Welcome to Texas Magnawing! Let us know which area you end up in and then we can point out all the good shooting ranges. Personally, I shoot at Shilo, Spring Guns & Ammo, and Conroe Shooting Academy. CSA is the most fun and best learning experience by far. Safe travels and have a Merry Christmas!

Welcome to the forum and Texas. Anywhere you settle in the Lone Star State is hands down better than the places you mentioned.
