Where would you buy?

Post by gguess66 »

Going to purchase a Glock 23 gen 4, so where would you buy from? Big box store or local. I live in N. Ft. Worth.

Check online stores and have it shipped to a local FFL.

Look at Bud's Gunshop in KY, CDNN Sports in Tx. Both show stock.

There are plenty of dealers in the Fort Worth area that will accept the order and charge only $15 to $25 to transfer it to you.

$25 Transfers in the Sugar Land, Richmond/Rosenburg areas, every 25th transfer I process is free

Active Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS receive $15 transfers.

SMR gun shop @ 421 W. Bedford Euless Rd. in Hurst has the best prices I have found around DFW, at least on the items I have searched for.

I like Winchester Gallery at Lancaster & loop 820. They have a huge selection of guns. Not sure of their prices though. That's where I go to shoot.

You also might want to check out DFW guns at I-30 & Eastchase Pkwy. I've never been in there so I don't know what they have in stock. Good luck!

Join GSSF and then buy it for $425 in a blue label box (with three mags).

On my quest for the wife's christmas present, both Winchester and DFW were $60.00-$75.00 higher than SMR for the same gun. I also found them to be a bit higher on a rifle that I am considering.

Good to know RP! I think I may be going over to SMR more often now. :cheers2:

I would also check the prices at GT Distributors. They have a store in Dallas and run good sales and have decent prices on items.

I'll give a vote for good customer service at SMR. He's done a little work for me including some he didn't even charge for that I was more than willing to pay for. They don't always have a lot of stock on the counters. I assume they just order in whatever you want? I've never asked as I tend to browse when there. If he can get it for a good price I'd give him a go.

Just down the road there is also DFW Shooting Sports. Their prices are comparable to other stores in the area including Academy pricing. Not necessarily as cheap as internet or gun show prices but always a reasonable price for a brick and mortar. Since they redid the place a little bit back I have always had good experiences there. Bought a few guns from them and they always have lots to look at and fondle. Also provided good customer service at the sales counter.

Still hard to beat online and transfer at an FFL once you factor in tax most times if you are just looking at cost and don't need to fondle it before buying. Anything that is pretty mainstream I buy that way. Transfer through Jeff Dowdle in Euless (http://www.livetoshoot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) who has pretty much the cheapest transfers and discount for CHL holders. He can order stuff in also although I've never had him do it for me. I've done a bunch of transfers through him and always happy.

Grabagun has the Glock 23 Gen 3 on their website as being in stock. As of today it shows a price of $539 (plus tax of course). If using a credit card they do not charge a fee.

Sales tax on the above price is about $44.47 ....if buying online, shipping could run anywhere from free to $30 or so and then there's the FFL transfer fee (my transfers run from $10-$15).

Personally, I'd check GunBroker, there is a Glock 23 NIB listed right now for $479 (buy now of $485) plus $35 shipping. It's osagecountyguns which I've purchased from several times with no issues.

Good luck with your purchase.

I like the LGS whenever possible, even if it's 10-15% more expensive, so they will hopefully still be around the next time I want something.
