U.S. Little League team forfeits title

Post by C-dub »

Sorry kids, but your coach and maybe your parents knowingly broke the rules. You did play great, but you shouldn't have been a team at all. They used a falsified boundary map to create a super-team.

And Jesse Jackson is involved and playing his usual card. Cheating is cheating. That's all there is to it.

Oh yeah, it has to be about race for him. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the rules. I'm reminded of a line from "The Avengers."

Do you think Jackson knows that the truth is not racism here and or does he really believe his own hot air?

I have no idea since he plays the race card so much.

I don't think he even asks the question. I think he just asks what can get him more publicity or money.

Definitely, but what I meant was that kids just want to play; the cheating was more the adults.
Oh yeah. The kids probably didn't even know that some of them lived outside the boundaries set by the league. And if the coach was using a falsified boundary map the parents may also have not known.

Or that they got new kids on the team as the season progressed, including some of the better players from other teams they had played.

Agreed, definitely the adults - coaches and parents alike.

I spent many years coaching youth sports. I've always said give me the kids and keep the parents away and we'll have a great time and the kids will learn a lot. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way and you have to take the bad with the good. The kids are very seldom the problem when it comes to youth sports.

Regardless who's at fault, cheating is cheating regardless the color of one's skin.

Initially, I heard the big explanation was that some kids moved and they didn't realize they were out of the boundaries set for that team. Then I heard they were just trying to keep kids together that started together, but had moved.

But, rules are rules. Even if it was an honest mistake, rules must be followed. The fact that they falsified maps proves they weren't looking out for the kids, they just wanted a super team.

Sorry kids, but your parents screwed you.

From what I've read, it wasn't an honest mistake.

It was dream team building by rule breaking.

When that was discovered, it's called "racist" by those benefitting.

Yes, there are racists, but not in this case...however, if I get called on something nefarious, (extremely unlikely as I'm perfect in every way) I'll haul out that particular canard as it seems to work when it shouldn't...
