Hope someone can learn from my mistake

I think Venus said it nicely, although we guys also do, from time to time, but I suppose the ladies "exposure rate" is higher, huh?.

I don't know how many electronics my bride has had fall into the toilet - cell phones, PDA's etc - under similar circumstances. Her usual response is to immediately turn it back on to see if it still works!

I finally came to the conclusion that this happens because a lot of women's clothing is softer and more flexible than mens, and they often don't wear a leather belt to hang things off of. Stuff just doesn't seem to fasten as tightly to ladies clothing.

Glad you are OK and had the courage to post this. A good lesson for ALL of us, guys included.

I'm with Venus on this.

Us girls have lots more to worry about in the potty than the guys do. It's just not a good idea to trust a gun to stay put in a holster when your pants are down around your ankles.

I don't like most holsters. When I carry on my waistband, it is usually a Glock with a ClipDraw. And, even then, I take it off and drop it in my purse when I am in the ladies room.

I am certainly glad your learning experience did not have any more severe consequences than it did. Thanks for sharing and reminding all of us that, no matter how experienced we are in carrying, we are not immune to the laws of gravity!

I do leather work and build inside the waist conceal holsters and I put what I call a "belly saver", or a leather flap over the top of the gun to keep it from Poking or gouging, you fat men here will know what I'm talking about. On mine, I put a snap on my belly saver that snaps down into the exposed part of the holster so when I drop trou in the bathroom my gun does not fall out. My friends, who I have built holsters like mine, didnt want a snap, but I did on mine. I was always afraid something like this would happen. and while my XD may not go off if dropped, I still don't want it "clattering" into the next stall at Walmart. Just my opinion............

Thanks for posting about this. Thank you Lord that you and your co-workers are ok. This is something that we can all learn from.
Since I have not had my CHL long I have not had to use the restroom while carrying with it other then standing up. I will remember what all has been said here when that time comes.

Venus thanks for the purse suggestion. I usually don't carry a purse. I tend to pack them full of stuff and then end up with back and shoulder pains, but I am willing to change my routine to prevent this from happening again.

I won't be carrying at work anymore, I had a informal talk with the office manager (over the breakfast tacos I got for everyone) and no loaded firearms will be allowed in the office any longer.

I still have a job so all is well, except for my pride it is still a bit bruised but all this considered I am very blessed everything turned out the way it did. Now I just have to tell my parents what happened

that's what I am not looking forward to.

Yeah but it's a really small town that I live in and my office manager goes to the same church as they do. So believe me it is better if I tell them. Even at 33 I am not immune to that mom look.

Welcome to the forum texasgirl.
Takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to own up to an event as yours. Am also happy that the only thing damaged is your pride, but that will pass.
Perhaps in the future you can sit down with the boss, and explain how bad you feel for making him take action about this incident. Maybe after another news article of some loony going postal at a work place. (No offense to postal workers) While explaining you have definitely learned from this horrible mistake and will never trust an old style, no safety handgun, and only carry modern ones with modern safeties.

I'm 45 and still get "that look" from my mom, and imagine I always will.
