Bosch - the Amazon Prime series

Post by philip964 »

My son pressured me into watching the first segment of Bosch a police crime drama that plays only on Amazon Prime. My first thought was I dont need to watch another police crime drama, there are enough of them on Cable already. The main character is an older not particularly handsome "rough around the edges" murder detective who lives in a fantastic house with stunning views in Los Angeles that way above his pay grade. Seems I've seen this before.

Well.

I'm hooked. I will probably have to power watch all ten episodes in the next few weeks.

I'd say it is Dirty Harry updated to today, except I think he just shoots 9 mm, oh it could have been a 1911, it was dark.

So if you have Amazon Prime already and have figured out how to stream it off the internet, then I would give it a shot. My son says the first episode is the slowest, so I guess I'm in for a treat.

Hooked as well.

I watched the pilot last year and binged watched the entire season when it was released a few weeks ago. I give it an A+. I love that Netflix and Amazon are producing their own high quality content.

Overall, an excellent adaptation of Michael Connelly's long running book series.

:iagree: I can't wait for Longmire to start back up on Netflix. I heard they are starting production up this month, but not sure when new shows will air. :thumbs2:

Ditto. I'm also liking that they'll be able to go darker in a way they couldn't on A&E. Close to the books.

Plus, we get the entire season instead of the 'weekly' subscription model that broadcast TV has used.

While I enjoyed the series and the Bosch character, I've read all the books and the series Bosch is much younger than the book Bosch, which does alter the dynamics. In the books Bosch is retired and comes back post-retirement to work cold cases. They have to twist his history to make the chronology work in the series because in the books he was a tunnel rat in Vietnam, putting him in is 60s. Still, it's a pretty good adaptation drawing from several of the books.
