2 hurt, 1 dead in north Houston robbery attempt

One man was killed and two others were wounded during an attempted aggravated robbery in north Houston early Saturday, authorities said.

Two men armed with handguns and wearing bandanas over their faces attempted to rob a group of four men, one of whom was also armed, outside the 100 block of Keel about 2 a.m, authorities said.

At some point, authorities said, shots were exchanged, and one of the robbery suspects was shot. He was taken to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The other robbery suspect was shot in the leg as well, and 34-year-old Fidel Perez, one of the four men being robbed, was shot in the back, authorities said.

Both were taken to Memorial Hermann.

The investigation is continuing.
