Carnival Cruise line Wifi filtering

Post by FL450 »

Sitting on the Carnival Freedom off the coast of Galveston waiting for the fog to lift so we can dock.
We are returning from a 7 day cruise from Montigo, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I purchased the Wifi package because I had some busness to conduct and yes being on a Cruise Ship sipping Umbrella drinks by the pool conducting busness is better than being in an office any day.
Now the point of my post, Carnivel Wifi filters all gun related web sites so no Texas CHl forum fix for a week.
I paid $100 for the unlimited high speed package(Satellite still very slow) and was upset they chose to block these sites.
Rant over.
I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.
Fat thumbs + IPhone = errors, please forgive.

Good idea, I will include that in my complaints. Over all we had a great time but we took our two highschool seniors and their friends. One daughter is 18 and her friend 17 and the other daughter is 17 and her friend 18. The dance clubs were 18 and over and the youth 17 and younger so the friends had to split up for some fun. They had no music and dancing geared towards highschool kids 16-18.

:iagree:

The last time I was on Carnival I did not have that experience, and was even able to access an 'R' rated site that I have found blocked other places (like Starbucks).

Our last few cruises have been on Norwegian and Royal Caribbean and I have been generally satisfied with the internet service even if I didn't use it much. One of the Norwegian cruises promised in room wifi, but it was so spotty it could only be used if the ship was rolling to port while turning to port (if you're a sailor you will know) and the room did not have wired access, so I had to go to the common areas to get access. The cruise line eventually rebated most of the price of the (unusable) wifi package.

When we are away on a cruise and I access any of the several fora that I inhabit, I never reveal that we are not at home, even though we often have a friend staying here, and have someone coming in several times a day to check on the pets and such.

Our Christmas Royal Caribbean cruise in 2013 did not have in room wifi as a feature, so one morning on an "at sea day" I was sitting in the coffee shop checking the CHL Forum when I heard the sound of someone sawing away at a harmonica. I noticed a little girl doing her best to produce something other then discord, so I pulled out my own harmonica and began to, unobtrusively, play a little tune between her breaths. Her entire adult family did a triple take on hearing actual music coming from her efforts.

I went over and introduced myself to the group and chatted for quite a while about harmonicas and such, and sat with the little girl and helped her pick out "You Are My Sunshine."

Another passenger caught some of this on his cell phone camera and was kind enough to track me down later and send me a copy, which he also put up on YouTube for all to see.

We did a Galveston-Cozumel-grand Cayman-Jamaica-Galveston cruise this last christmas on Royal Carribean and the internet package didn't seem to have any filtering on it that I could tell of. I was actually kinda surprised. I had the Hola proxy server package ready to go, but didn't seem to need it.
