does anyone know if Sandy Lake is posted... searched forum nothing about it, 3006 site shows nothing.... daughter has a band competition there Friday..... school competition so probably be safe and not carry anyhow....

Not necessarily. Just because a school sponsored event shows up in a museum, it does not make the location off limits. The only restriction would be if you were participating in it. And example is you are eating at a McDonalds and a school bus with kids on a field trip come in; do you now have to leave? Nope.

As for Sandy Lake, I am not 100% sure they are open enough days of the year to meet the statute requirements, but there are two 'gotchas' I see for you: it is name Amusement Park so if caught you might have some talking to do, and you will be going to see the school sponsored event, so participation would make it off limits IMO.

I would assume that because he's there specifically because of his daughter's competition, that it would be reason enough for the statute to apply. Indeed, I was over-simplifying it. I don't think it would apply to people who were there with no connection to the school event.

For the amusement park prohibition, you would need to determine if the Sandy Lake Amusement Park meets the definition of "amusement park" under 46.035

(1) "Amusement park" means a permanent indoor or outdoor facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the public that is located in a county with a population of more than one million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on the premises at all times. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

Even then, it's only prohibited under 46.035 if they post a 30.06 sign.

(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.

They are definitely not large enough to meet the state's definition of an amusement park, but I think they are privately owned and can still post a 30.06 sign. I do not recall if they have or not. It has been a long time since I've been there.

The park policies posted on their website do not mention weapons or firearms.
