Funny, but this evening I was thinking of how lucky I was to not have to use my CCW. Another day of concealed carry has come and gone without incident.........just the way I hoped it would turn out
Lately, there have been some disturbing things going on in Plano and they're not far from home and I've started carrying a primary CCW and a back up (usually a full size) in the vehicle with plenty of mags loaded up. Guess you can never be too prepared, right? I've also added alot of one handed drills to my range trips. Groups are getting smaller

Police ID man found dead in Plano street

Police released the identity Tuesday afternoon of a 23-year-old Guatemalan man found dead in the road from a gunshot wound Sunday night at the intersection of East Park Boulevard and Peachtree Lane in Plano.
Selvin Nicolas Medrano Salazar was a resident of east Plano, according to Officer Rick McDonald, a spokesperson for the Plano Police Department.
Plano fire officials discovered Salazar at about 10:30 p.m. while on their way back from an unrelated emergency medical call, McDonald said.
“He was found on the curb line laying in the roadway close to the parkway,� McDonald said. “I don’t believe that this individual had been there that long. We don’t know if he had been transported from another location.�
Police do not believe the man committed suicide, because officials did not find a gun at the scene, McDonald said.
“We are looking for suspects,� McDonald said. “But we don’t have any heavy leads right now.� Dr. William Rohr, Collin County Medical Examiner, declined to comment Tuesday on the nature of Salazar’s death.
James Wilt and Abbie Stone have lived at 3201 East Park Boulevard for 26 years and said this is the first time anything more than a traffic violation has occurred on their busy stretch of street.
“The police were so quiet,� Stone said. “Last night, for some reason, the noise was non-existent.�
Stone said she and her husband went outside to find a dozen police conducting a search on a roped off section of Peachtree Lane next to their home.
“It really shook everybody up,� Wilt said. “You don’t feel as emotional when it happens in downtown Dallas. It gives you more of a nervous shock when you feel that crime is moving up to your backdoor.�
Police are just as surprised by the death as residents are, McDonald said.
“This just doesn’t happen here,� McDonald said. “We all take it to heart. You try to make your city as safe as possible. But sometimes the criminal element will infiltrate through other means and do something as serious as this.�

Plano has over 250,000 people, not all of them rich. It seems to me that many of the more significant crimes (like this shooting) happen in the less well-to-do areas of Plano, as in any other city. IMHO, it's not that a rich city is being targeted, but simply an example of the crimes that occur in every city.

Plano is not really really the rich folk town it was once thought of as. Within 2 blocks of my business is at least 3 apartment complexes that are mainly Section 8/ subsidized housing units. Robberies, thefts and home break-ins are common, just not published alot in the papers. The light rail also allowed for quicker travel up here from some of the gang ridden areas of Dallas.
Those who go to Bullet Trap on regular basis, take a close look at the neighborhood, this is not too far from where this body was found.
