Today is Memorial day

Post by SkipB »

As I set here this morning sipping my coffee I will remember those friends who I served with in the Army that lost their lives in the Vietnam war. I will not dwell on their death but instead I will remember their friendship, their smiles, the good times we had together. I will remember their lives. That is the way I would want to be remembered. Those of us who came home have Veterans Day. Today is for those that gave all. So I ask you to take a minute out of your day to think of those that gave all, this is their day after all.

Yes. I also remember the "homecoming" received by so many. That is why I will always say "Thank you for serving."

Today, in addition to the many who have fallen, I remember especially my grandfather who survived WWI with the U.S. Army in France, my father (U.S. 15th Army Airforce), my father-in-law (2nd Infantry Div.) who both endured the unimaginable horrors of WWII and the many friends who didn't come home from Vietnam. We honor those who made the supreme sacrifice to keep us free. Wife and I did that in church yesterday after we went to the National Cemetary in Dallas to place flags on the graves of our fallen heroes to honor them. Thank you for your service. :patriot:
