Do it

I have too many of them right now from itty bitties smaller than my palm to 40lb professional cinematography rigs. They're a ton of fun and have almost innumerable applications.

I'll bet that would be good for hog hunting.

$1k for the drone
$400 for the camera-gimbal
$200-500 for the GoPro camera...
Have you looked at the DJI Phantoms?

The Solo may have more room for expandability in the future (mostly open-source stuff) but the Phantom is a great tool and a little cheaper. I don't have personal experience with the 3 (I have a P2V+), but from what I've seen it looks great.

Regardless, I highly recommend getting a micro to fly around your living room to get used to the controls.

EDIT: Just for giggles, here's one of the cinema rigs I fly for work:

For size reference, that's a Lumix GH4 in the gimbal.

Are armed drones legal?

The FAA might object! :smilelol5:

Yes, I've had a micro for a while, the Proto X

Convenient charging, but it only lasts a few minutes; I think (in the meantime) I need to buy something a little bigger for indoors practice :)
I've got one of those too, they really are a lot of fun  And yeah, bigger tends to be better (to a point). My Blade Nano QX is the perfect size for buzzing around the house. I have it bound to one of my regular transmitters though, the ones that come with it are kinda... ew...
