Truely, Condoleezzaa Rice would be my vote but not a likely candidate since she's still alive.
I believe they will choose someone who was significant in the civil rights movement or possibly overall common good of humanity. It won't necessarily be someone who was in politics, such as the first female in congress. Likely candidates (I'm not necessarily for or against) - Clara Barton, Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks.

Hamilton was first Secretary of the Treasury, if I recall correctly. Still, from Founders and Presidents to ???

As much as I like Sally Ride, I think Harriet Tubman would get my vote.

Here's an article I just saw of some unofficial survey of possibilities.

Caitlyn Jenner, but not on the $10. On the three dollar bill.

Re: New $10 bill to feature female face
Among women of distinction, Condoleezza Rice is one of the most remarkable people in US history. Every time I think of what she accomplished I am in awe. In my opinion, she bests represents the American Can Do Spirit - but since she is still living she does not qualify.
So my first choice is a candidate that reflects the spirit of American achievement in the face of overwhelming adversity. I think it should be Florence Owens Thompson, the "anonymous" Migrant Mother, who is seen holding her child in the 1930's Great Depression photo. http://www.loc.gov/teachers/classroomma ... epression/
Early America was a harsh existence for our pioneers, but it seems no one has ever focused on just how rough it was on the pioneer women. From early morning to late at night they labored ceaselessly.
Indians were always a threat and often found lurking in ambush. A simple act such as going to the outhouse could get one killed. As the husbands were off hunting or working the fields, they were generally too far away to protect the family. The responsibility then fell to the mother.
With this in mind, I recall an event told by Robert Caro (MEANS OF ASCENT The Years of Lyndon Johnson) of a Texas pioneer mother. She had several young children and a new born. Her husband was away & seeing a band of Indians nearby she locked down the cabin and secured her children inside. During this time her milk cow turned up missing - did it stray or did the Indians get it? The cow was very valuable in a harsh land & couldnt be replaced - her children's life depended on that cow.
She had a hard decision to make - and she did. She sent her 11 year old son out to ascertain the location of the cow. I dont remember how the story ends - but when I see that photo of Florence Owens Thompson (she had 5 children at the time) I recall the Robt Caro story.
The women that are currently being considered for this honor were women who stepped aside from the traditional roles as the family anchor, and though they made contributions to our country, they never contributed as much as the anonymous early American mothers. (I know the libs hate the very thought of this)

Gosh, I wonder if our current 'hope and change' administration could embrace the idea of Ayn Rand on the bill?
Somewhere on the bill, they could print, "Who is John Galt?".
