Manual Oil Evacuators

Post by Abraham »

I've a number of Honda engines mounted on mowers, pressure washers, etc. and they don't come with an oil drain plug. I have to remove the dipstick, lay them on their side and drain. A giant pain and often, a mess...

Almost all my motor powered equipment would be better served if I had an oil remover/evacuator.

I've looked into buying a Mityvac, but the reviews are so-so on the various models. I originally thought they were good to go, but not always.

Can anyone here make a recommendation on such a critter if you have personal experience with one or own one? Plus, I'd like one that - after removing the oil is capable of then reversing the process and fill recyclable containers with the old oil.

I prefer a manual pump type.

Thanks!

I agree that it is a giant pain.

Presently I use a large disposable aluminum steam table pan.

I am also interesting in the suggestions and recommendations.

Check the boating merchants such as West Marine. I bought a 12v pump for my boat and it wasnt worth my time.

This will get you going.

I have a Motive Power Extractor. Use it for my mower, 4-cycle trimmer, wife's honda, etc. I have no complaints.

I also use their power brake bleeder and love it. Makes brake bleeding so easy.

It's probably less than 12 oz of oil, how about a large syringe with about 6 inches of tubing on it's tip?

Thanks all - Here's what I've ordered: Mityvac Model 7201 from Tooltopia for $85.90, no shipping charge, no tax.

I watched it being used on Youtube.

I watched others too, and all others while less costly required the used oil to be poured out. I want to avoid pouring out the oil thus avoiding oil spills...

The Mityvac 7201, not only sucks oil out through the dipstick, but once the oil is in the reservoir, flip a lever and it can then be pumped into a recyclable container.

Easy, no mess.

Mine is an older model.
I tried using it one time, and remembered why I no longer own a bicycle pump.

if I ever have a need for it. I'll plumb it to a vacuum pump.

That's the hand squeeze pump, right?

This thing we're discussing is a bit bigger: http://www.amazon.com/Mityvac-7201-Flui ... B0002SR7TC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
