I'm sorry.... I saw nothing funny in that clip.
IMO, law enforcement is a serious job and characterizing LEO's as pranksters is demeaning and in poor taste.
My two cents,
Nick

It was a stupid video made by and had uniforms and possibly cars from the West Covina, CA PD. Apparently there were 2 non-police officer employees that were involved in production.

I thought it was funny. Folks gotta lighten up a bit.

I thought it was pretty dang funny. Somewhat true even.
I was pulled over for speeding in a 35 in 25 (I sped up a little to soon exiting a school zone, my bad) by Missouri City PD. I pulled into the next cross street which was within spitting distance of where he activated his lights behind me, for my safety/child safety and officer safety to get off the main street with normal heavy morning traffic.
About a minute later, after the officer got out and was already talking to me, two additional units pulled up quickly and came to a screeching halt at either ends of the cross street, like as if I was trying to run away.
Bored cops with nothing better to do than create excitement where there is none. I thought things were gonna go south quickly. No telling how much danger they put others in to drive so damn fast for nothing.
The two additional units stayed for a minute then sped off.

Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Regardless of cause, I completely agree. This country has gotten entirely too dang serious. If people would just lighten up a little bit, things might not look so bleak.RoyGBiv wrote:I thought it was funny. Folks gotta lighten up a bit.

Sounds like every traffic stop ever in Wylie/Murphy/Sachse. I got a bad registration stop a couple years back at about 2am (I was on the night shift and made the mistake of driving through Wylie after midnight) and at one point there were 5 SUV's behind me with the bubblegums going while the cop gave me a lecture.LSUTiger wrote:I thought it was pretty dang funny. Some of the biggest and best practical jokers I've ever seen were COPS. Some of the best practical jokes were played on COPS by COPS. I think it was just part of the great camaraderie. Oh well, I guess it was a different time.

Re: When cops are bored...
Many people take themselves way too seriously and have forgotten how to have some fun and laugh.
We had great fun claiming this was a local cop here in Boerne that has a great personality and a great sense of humor. By the way, cops can be brutal when it comes to jokes.

No one took it as demeaning to him or all cops.
I say lighten up and try to enjoy life in this challenging time.

If I hadn't been entrapped by a small town cop once, and also jacked up by a priggish Trooper another time, I might've found it funny too.

Re: When cops are bored...
This was a great video. I havent laughed like I did in a while, & in my experience, the "there is the little girl", is typical cop humor.
I was involved in Crimestoppers years ago and spent a lot of time with the cops. First I have to say, my opinion of the typical cop changed greatly. Most of the guys were professional, intelligent & conducted themselves with class - they also had a wicked sense of humor that was razor sharp. They could nurture a situation for hours before popping the punch line - no mercy - everyone was a target, but for the most part, it was laid back and comfortable fun.
One of my favorite memories involves a conference we attended in San Antonio. I spent most of the week hysterically laughing. The humor was intelligent & witty.
Humor is a facet of humanity & I have little doubt that the majority of cops will enjoy this silly little video.

Good stuff - I'm on a Crimestoppers board, myself.I was involved in Crimestoppers years ago
The humor in that video was fine. I would caution, however, against police using weapons as props. All four of the big four gun rules got broken.
Sorry, guys, you can't do that. I'm certain precautions were taken, right up to the point unsafe handling was practiced.
The humor was fine, though. I get it. Gun safety, though, can't take a holiday.

The links Keith posted stated prop guns were used and the gun fire was added post production.treadlightly wrote:Good stuff - I'm on a Crimestoppers board, myself.I was involved in Crimestoppers years ago
