I don't think I need one of those. I do not like the rear sight (although I understand the use of it). I have a BUG for situations that sight was designed for.

After all, how many rounds are you actually going to fire before it is over one way or the other?

Don't most 1911'a lock open when the last shot is fired? Its about a gun malfunction not a reloading issue. I think this is an "in the case of failure" fix. Maybe this is their solution with reliability issues. Kimber also has grooved sights on some of their guns.

I got to thinking about this though. It occoured to me that this was designed with Californian LEOs in mind. I but they run around uncharged. Makes sense. They would be more concerened about not being able to to cock the darned thing for the first shot. Being designed for undercover LEOs this gun might even be expected to be carried without holster.

And Yes, a 1911 will lock open after the last round is fired (if the Mag is still in the gun). Why do I say that? One tactical reloading technique is to change mags with the last round still in the chamber (that way if necessary during the change you can still get a round off).

But my BUG will solve the problem of malfunction OR reloading issues.

I'll stick with my Kimber Stainless Pro Carry II (series 1) and my Kimbers UCII and Eclipse II (both series 2).
I don't need to buy every gun that is available.

One interesting thing though is they have gone back to series 1 ejector (internal) on this pistol!

I don't care for the stylized slide serrations. Looks like "kinder, gentler" SS lightning bolts, something the LAPD SIS has already been under fire for using.

One interesting thing though is they have gone back to series 1 style extractor (internal) on this pistol!

Kimber gave up on the external extractor a couple years ago; too many folks were having problems with it that just simply wouldn't go away, and they were losing customers. All of their pistols have the internal extractor now.

Yes, I just purchased a NEW Stainless Pro Carry II that indeed has the internal extractor. Glad to see it back!
