Just look at how many NCAA athletes have lost their scholarships for accepting money or anything else of value, except for working a bonafide job.
I disagree.

Nobody elected the NCAA to anything. They have no authority to do anything except regulate their own sports. They certainly do not define what the law means.

There is nothing about the car racing as described in this thread that would lead me to think it is a professional sporting event.

I have to warn you that this is one of those gray areas of the law. It is not defined under Texas law. The federal law may be used by the court but is not binding. The Texas courts could use the common definition, the federal definition, or make up one all their own.

So, a professional event may be one where anyone gets prize money (as some here have defined it), one where the national certifying board for the sport defines it (and what if there is no national board or where there is more than one like in drag racing), or one where the athletes make their living at the sport (my definition).

And all of that does not even get into what a sport is.

So I am a professional hot air baloon crew member too? Cool!

Well,.....all good posts.....

But, if it is that confusing, then don't you agree that there is a lot on this topic (and others) that need quite a bit of work to get them right?
Or, is that the purpose? To pay the legal machine without any real answer?

Really, why do the laws have to be so ambiguous?

Although it has been many years since I wrenched on a dragster pit crew or rowed my Camaro's gears down the quarter mile, I am fairly certain that the drag racing sanctioning bodies define what classes are "Professional" and which ones are "Sportsmen". Even some of the "Sportsmen" classes require a license issued by the sanctioning bodies for safety reasons, to ensure that the drivers are capable of handling the machines.

The local tracks and even the large tracks have weekly sportsmen sessions where prize money is paid. I personally would not classify these events as professional but that is my opinion, IANAL and do not play one on TV, and someone else's definition of professional might overrule my definition thereby allowing infringement on one's right to carry at a small track.

I move that we strike the prohibition against carrying at Professional Sporting Events from the TPC! Does anybody (especially in the legislature) second? :coolgleamA:

Better yet, lets just eliminate ALL of the "Reasonable Restrictions" to our God Given Right which is confirmed by the 2A!
Of course, there would still be the required restrictions for Felons. I am directing this at Law Abiding Citizens.

I suggest that the "Right to Bear" arms not only means to use arms as necessary, but to also to carry arms.....unrestricted.

AEA, you are in trouble now.

The "My reasonable restrictions are better than yours" gang and the "We should be glad we have to have a 2A permission card" association is gonna hammer you.

Welcome to the dark side.

We were there and we were both packing. They only had a ghostbusters sign at the entrance. AEA even had his Kimber strapped to his hip as he spun down the track! :clapping:

Unfortunately, I am the proud owner of a 12 second car (possibly high 11's) but I do not have the talent or expertise to drive it.
My best time was 13.3900 sec @ 106.16mph (the first run).

My fastest speed for the day was 108.04mph @ 13.4647 sec.

I missed 3rd gear on all but one run (the first one) and could not get any traction in 1st and 2nd with street tires.

Even with my inability, it turned out that I was the 2nd fastest Bullitt Mustang out there out of about 23. When I ran for my Class Elimination, I missed 3rd and went into 5th!, then back to 3rd, and hit the rev limiter and ran out of track (14.1986 sec @ 98.75mph). The guy that beat me only ran 13.7888 @ 96mph as he was having a bad day as well..........

So, technically, I had the guy beat TWICE........just not when I needed to......ha ha..... "rlol"

With regards to the gun carried.........
The Wilson and/or my Browning Hi Power are classed as my Winter Guns.
The Bobbed Kimber Pro Carry and/or my Springer EMP are my Summer Guns. (Don't even have the EMP yet, still waiting for my group buy to be completed by Springfield). :cryin
