Mainly cause it looks :evil2: , its a .45, and it'll drive tacks out to about 30 yards where it starts to drop off. That and I like it are really the only reasons. I didnt know there was an adaptor required for the .40. I'm thinking that it shouldnt be too hard for someone with a little knowledge of metalworking and a desire to make some $$ to design an extended magazine for the .45. I havent found any yet, but I would think someone would come up with something.

Its also a pretty small package, making it suitable for a home defense carbine. And its been known to take a hog or two.

Not really any advantages so to speak. Its just a really cool gun.

Here is the page with the various adapters listed.

Please understand that I intended nothing against the CX4. In fact, I was fascinated with it until I started digging into it.

If you have the platform that you wanted and the magazines to fit yours, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with the CX4.

I had not looked since they dropped the Cougar line, but I'm guessing that they stopped making the CX4 in the Cougar platform at the same time. Apparently, that required offering the adapters so that folks with the discontinued styles could use alternate mags.

Beretta doesn't always have their act together. I asked the factory folks at the 2005 NRA show about the carbine kit that is supposed to be available for the Neos .22. They said it would be available in a matter of months. They have a reminder notice on their Q&A page to be notified when it is available. The reminder expires monthly and I've renewed it more than 36 times waiting on it.

I have no doubt that you'll enjoy your CX4 and I apologize if I dashed any cold water.

:tiphat: Your allright Mike. No offense taken. Thanks for the info on the mags. I agree about them not getting their act together. I ordered a front quad rail from Berretta when I got the gun back in Feb. It still isnt here. I understand it has to come from Italy, but I could have swam it across the Atlantic by now!

Its a fun shooter, tthats fer sure. :txflag:

Thanks for that lead..
I do not believe that is an actual Dragunov, but rather a PSL. You aren't going to find a true Dragunov for much under $2000. They are similar guns, but the Dragunov has a different gas system, action, and higher-quality receiver among other things. They're pretty scarce, but you can find unfired ones on gunbroker every once in a while. Currently, there looks to be only a rare Norinco model for sale for around $5500. I've seen Russian models for sale on gunbroker for about $2200 recently.

For what it's worth, I noticed that you were using the image link for my Keltec Sub2000 from my webpage, and the one pictured is the 9mm (Glock), not .40 S&W. ;-)

Well, being that he has only posted once, and it was the post you referenced... he wasn't a member until you posted the image from his website. ;-)

He seems to have created the account to let you know about your mistake.

hey lawrnk, have you gotten your sub out to the range yet? I took mine yesterday. I recalled reading elsewhere a user complaining about the stout recoil. so on my first shot, I shouldered it up and took a 12-gauge stance. pop. recoil was no problem at all. turns out there are people who post up to the internet and exaggerate! ;-) the thing that I noticed way more was the trigger. man, that sucker is stiff! after about 5-rds, my index finger fatigued and I had to switch to the next finger to run the trigger! the other thing I noticed was how quiet it was. not much louder than the .22 guy in the lane next to me.

so about 50 rds later the trigger has improved some. hopefully that trend will continue since I like every other aspect of the carbine. another complaint I read was the shortness of stock. I'm not a small guy, but it seemed to tuck into a nice comfy shooting position. as far as accuracy goes, using a bench rest I had a sequence of 4 hits into a golfball size group at 25 yds. the stiff trigger gave me problems repeating that in later strings. all in all, thumbs up, plus I was the only guy in the rifle lanes able to drop his equipment into a backpack when done.

Agreed, stout kick. Left me and a buddy pretty bruised up. Might need a butt pad. Now I had been firing some stiff rifles yesterday at PSC, so I did not notice the trigger on the sub as much. Its a short trigger, but very stiff. Seems like a reasonably accurate gun sub 25 yards. I thought it was signifigantly louder than the .22 you mentioned though. Mine was also quite comfortable, and I enjoyed the factory sights as well. First time for me to use "rings", and it folded up perfectly into my standard size range bag. Probably not a gun I will shoot often, but it looks great (though feels and folds kinda flimsy), and packs a great punch. I wonder if someone from PSC can tell me if it is kosher to shoot this on the pistol range.
