Letter to businesses that post a 30.06 sign*updated*6/21/06

Very nice letter therooster, but I would consider striking "recent" in the following line:

can imagine that the recent implementation of legalized concealed carry in Texas has left you wondering about your responsibilities under the law.

since it's now been about a decade since Texas CHL has been available.

Also, aside from a typo on the word "thought" (no 't' at the end), I'm lost as to what a person might put in the blank...

As ____________ I know you put a great deal of though

I guess a job title, or whatever one feels is appropriate?

yes that blank is reserved for job title (Branch Manger). by all means, save a copy. if this can do good for me than it can do good for us all, and we are all on the same team.

i just took the "fluff" out of it.

Sorry about that therooster, but there were no signs at the Luby's in Killeen. We did not have CHL at that time.

i just took the "fluff" out of it.

When the Luby's shooting occured there were no such signs as it was pre-CHL. Suzanna Gratia (at that time) carried a handgun in her car under the traveling statute and left her handgun in her car as there wasn't a legal way for her to carry it into Luby's.

I might agree that the original wording makes a better story for your purposes here, but I prefer to be correct on the facts so as not to damage my arguement. That is my .02 worth.

The Luby's story is significant for those who have thought about it, but I think it's too alarming for the purpose of this letter. You don't want the person who receives it worrying about lunatics shooting up the bank.

I'm inclined to stick by what I wrote earlier, which was --

• Over a quarter of a million Texans have received CHLs since 1996. They have legally defended themselves countless times, usually without a shot being fired.

But your letter gets your point across and it's not going to be read by English professors.
