Yeah I have started doing the same using 'sno-seal original' (beeswax and silicone ?) - $4 from Academy in the shoe section. I apply it then leave it in the sun for a couple of hours and it soaks right in.
I'm certainly not saying that these long time remedies don't work. However, many of the premium holster makers are downright picky about what products, if any, they want used on their holsters. It's always best to check with them before applying anything.
If you've got a $50 holster, knock yourself out. But if you spent upwards of $150, you might want to ask the maker.
Horsehide is always more moisture resistant than cowhide and has the virtue of being thinner.

I work outside in Houston and the humidity here can make you break out into a sweat when you walk outside in the morning. Most days I get completely soaked as if I just got out of a swimming pool. I use a Galco Horsehide Pocket Holster for my Smith&Wesson 642 snubby. I've never had moisture penetrate the holster. The holster might be damp on the outside but it's always dry on the inside, which means the gun stays dry as well.
CaptWoodrow10, Are you certain that the sweat is soaking
through the holster? Or, is it running down
into the holster?...Just curious.

In summer I also carry my 642 quite often but I got a Mika pocket holster and it is made of a synthetic material that doesn't let any moisture soak through.

I sweat too, but it rarely gets past my Depends
Nah really, I have a Comfort Carry from Rob Durham with Comp-Tac clips (smooth side of horsehide next to skin, laminated to smooth side of leather next to gun. Nothing gets past those two layers, nothing absorbs into the smooth side of the horsehide... It does not breathe at all, but it absorbs nothing at all. I imagine if Crossbreed put the smooth side of the dense horsehide next to the skin it would resist sweat better. I'm not one to wear extra layers of clothes in triple digit weather.

I am in Houston and don't wear a t shirt with my horse hide super tuck. I don't recall having any sweat issues with the horse hide on either side of the hide and I work up a sweat when mowing the lawn.
