Supertuck Moisture Control (Help needed)

Has anyone sweated through your horsehide supertuck? I know I have, and I'm worried about leaving my pistol in a sweat soaked holster all day as I work outside. Since it is so hot, my supertuck is the only real option I have for comfortable concealment as I am not about to show up to work in a Hawaiian shirt. Way too hot for that. I think I can fry an egg on the hood of my pickup for breakfast if I wanted to.
My question: If you have had this problem, what did you do to minimize or even eliminate the moisture transfer from holster to pistol? Mink oil, Renaissance wax, and a couple of other ideas have crossed my mind, but I couldn't resist picking at yalls brains when I have the opportunity. Any ideas are welcome. The floor is yours.

I haven't used the horse hide yet... just got it yesterday. But something occurred to me... did you try emailing Crossbreed to see what they would recommend?

I had a regular leather Cross Breed anbd used mink oil on it. It may change the color some but it worked great for me. I never wear mine when I sweat excessively though but for regular summer wear it worked.

Would a tee-shirt worn between you and the holster work?
A lot of folks think that a tee-shirt is hotter because it is one more'
layer, but I think it helps by absorbing the sweat.

I wear a supertuck, or a mini-tuck (because of the belt loop
spacing). I DO NOT work outside, so I don't have the problem
you describe at all. But I am curious - what type of shirt do you
wear and is it tucked or un-tucked?

I typically wear a tucked undershirt between myself and the holster with a large t-shirt or button up as my cover garment (All 100% USA cotton ). I've found that in this heat it doesn't matter if I'm wearing one shirt or two. It's still HOT!

On my leather IWB holsters i took a hair dryer and warmed the leather and rubbed beeswax into the leather. then used the hair dryer to melt it in. it pretty much waterproofs the leather. I have been doing it on horse tack for years so i figured what the heck. worked out so far

I'm like you in that I sweat profusely in the heat and living in Houston, I know of which I speak. I wear a T-shirt and yes, a T will keep you cooler because it absorbs and holds the sweat. If you fight the paradigm further and try wearing two t-shirts, you will find that you are even more comfortable.

I use a Tucker Heritage and I don't think it's horse hide but it is extemely thin leather and I've never sweated through it. I've noticed the top of the holster is sometimes wet but that's from sweat running down that the t-shirt can't hold.

I carry a blued Beretta and an Inox Beretta and neither one has ever shown any sign of rust on the body of the pistol. I dont' really do anything special to them after I take them off. The only thing I have noticed is the grip screws & spring washers show a little rust spotting but there's nothing on the body.

What type of work are you doing outside to work up such a sweat? I get pretty wet ,pretty much shirt front and back, crouch areas but my 3:00
position barely gets damp.Not all that humid here usually but i know hen i go down to San Antonio its awful.Never get down to Houston any.

I work outside in Houston and the humidity here can make you break out into a sweat when you walk outside in the morning. Most days I get completely soaked as if I just got out of a swimming pool. I use a Galco Horsehide Pocket Holster for my Smith&Wesson 642 snubby. I've never had moisture penetrate the holster. The holster might be damp on the outside but it's always dry on the inside, which means the gun stays dry as well.

CaptWoodrow10, Are you certain that the sweat is soaking through the holster? Or, is it running down into the holster?...Just curious.

Yeah I have started doing the same using 'sno-seal original' (beeswax and silicone ?) - $4 from Academy in the shoe section. I apply it then leave it in the sun for a couple of hours and it soaks right in.

Well, I live just south of Houston and the heat and humidity is an issue. I carry my XD9SC about half and half with an MTAC and a Bianchi carrylok. Gun is fine but the Crimson Trace switch has failed twice now due to corrosion after about 4-5 months each. I am on my third one. CTC is working with me now with a modified one just for me to test because it appears the moisture and probably body salts corrode the connection on the board and then migrates up into the switch and it fails. They have been great to work with me to solve this issue for us poor south coastal regions.

But my MTAC does get pretty wet at times against my skin. However, my XD grip does contact my skin so it gets a good soaking. I am interested in a modified shield if I can for future holsters just for this reason. Riverrat, you listening? I may have to add an option to my order.

+1 on using an undershirt. I always wear one and I have never sweated through my holster. I find that an undershirt greatly extends the life of my outer shirts as well.
Just a thought, have you tried applying antiperspirant to the holster area? Unless the problem is sweat running down, this might help.

I'm pretty sure since the top of the holster is dry on the gun side, and the bottom is soaking wet on both sides. I'm lucky the entire holster isn't dripping with sweat after the last couple of days we've had. Triple digit heat index and all.

Anyhoo, I got a response from Marty at CB:
