Get Firefox 2.0 It has a built in spell checker that works fairly well.

If anyone wants to read further into what these guys go through I found an excellent article. It tells all about what families of the fallen go through and what the military does to help them. VERY long read but I highly suggest everyone take the time to read it to the end.

After you read that all the way through, here is a video about a fallen soldier where you can see alot of the things talked about in the article. Be sure to read the entire article first.

That was my fault; see my post above as to how that happened. LT deleted the word censor and that corrected the article, so the problem should not be repeated.

Meaning no disrespect, I don't consider prohibiting profanity censorship, at least not in the traditional sense of restricting discussion of ideas. I admit that I should have given more thought to the effect of that particular use of a wildmask/wildcard in the word censor, but that doesn't mean the goal of the "10 year old daughter rule" thwarts open discussion of topics and ideas.

Chas.
A poor choice of words on my part after a frustrating experience trying to read the top post. I certainly respect the intentions and spirit of the ten year old daughter rule. While I am not particularly offended by more colorful language, The rule results in a certain civility and politeness which goes way beyond the simple restriction you have asked for.

It's a great board and works well. Thanks.

:iagree:

I have been on lots of forums and with the 10 year old daughter rule it spawns alot more thought and allows respect to go both ways in the board.

I hate reading forums and in every topic it eventually turns into a flame war and the topic is lost:mad5 <---- I know that I am off topic but I had to add my .02 and give a Kudos to all who frequent this board.

I guess when I orignally read the Original Post, Charles had already fixed the alleged problem.

However, I have used such word searching programs before and had similar results the first time out.

Heck when I use a simple search and replace in my Word program I end up with all kinds of problems.

I do a lot of religious writings and when I first started using this version of Word (r) I tried doing something like this: job to Job meaning the biblical book not the work thing we do. well the actual word job (for work was there) and turned it into a capitol--well I did this in the "auto correct" function, so whenever I wrote the word job it automatically became Job. I did this for the 66 books but at times I'd type Joh and It'd turn into John <space> when I really wanted Johnson (my daughters married name).

It all takes a bit of tweeking, and I can understand the intent behind, but you have to use stuff like s??t instead of s*t. The question marks look for two letters in a particular sequence.

You might try this if your program utilizes that feature.
