the spread as measured from the outside of one ear to the outside of the other has to be less than 6 inches. due to the vague nature of the legal definition of "varmint", people were just shooting at each other, hence the under-6-inch spread rule that was recently put in place. and no requirement on the same spread as measured left-to-right compared to right-to-left, the local law makers are so right-winged that they won't even acknowledge that the word "left" exists.puma guy wrote:Does Fayette have a spread restriction of at least an equal distance measurement from ear to ear when measured right to left and left to right? And no restrictions on one eared varmints?rmr1923 wrote:depends on what zone you live in. north of I-10 i can bag as many varmints as will fit in my varmint bag since varmints are a menace to the local hobby gardeners' soybean crop this time of year, but each county can set a limit on the size/volume of the varmint bag. for example, in Fayette County i can't use a bag that would be small enough to be mistaken as a man-purse. of course, like much of our legislation on varmints, this is open to interpretation and there's no case law at this time... and i'd prefer to not be a test case to set the precedent, so i just use a 55 gallon oil drum strapped to my back.RPB wrote:varmint season![]()
What's the daily bag limit on varmints now?
as of this writing there is no specific rule in regard to one eared varmints. it was on the docket but over half of the lawmakers were bused out of town recently and are holed up somewhere near Lake Charles to avoid having to vote on the issue.
