Putting a couple gallons of water in jugs on top of your safe would increase the fire protection.

My guess is when the container is compromised the water runs onto the metal cooling it which adds additional time before the metal reaches critical temp time limit.

So I'm guessing I shouldn't store my gas cans on it?
