Well, if they go back to the 9mm, I guess they will have gone full circle. I know 9mm is so much better now than it was during the Miami shootout incident, but if I remember correctly the Bureau got away from the 9mm because they were outgunned by the bad guys in that incident which precipitated them to try the 10mm and subsequently go to the 40 .

If I were going to choose between a 10mm and a .40, I'd go with the 10mm simply for the increased versatility. The difference in weight and dimensions between a Glock 22 and a 20SF for instance is not that much, and capacity is the same, and yet you have so much more versatility with the 10mm. That said, I wouldn't be choosing either caliber in a primary carry weapon.

But there have been significant advancements in bullet design and powder formulation since that FBI shootout, and 9mm can be a seriously effective SD choice. I personally still prefer carrying a .45 because I shoot it better than 9mm, but I do own and carry a 9mm pistol occasionally and I don't feel under-armed with it.
