Well It Is Official

Post by stash »

Starting with the Jan. cadet class, DPS is going to transition to the 9mm in the M&P platform. Some of the factors that played into the change is less recoil, lighter pistol and more capacity. Current troopers will be able to carry their Sig for some period of time. According to the article, money was not an issue for the change.

Except for the kickback somebody is getting from S&W.

they say money isn't an issue....but the cost difference between 9mm m&P and 357sig is pretty high, especially factoring in ammo.

The good news is LEO trade in sigs! woohoo

Well it's about time! Finally getting away from the .357 sig. This should have been done a while ago!

Sure it is, but other then barrier penetration do you honestly think it is that much better then a 9mm+p? I don't! Just like when people tell me the 10mm is so much better then the .40S&W for so called stopping power and there is a bigger difference between .40 S&W-10mm then 9mm+P-.357 sig.

Bottom line, hopefully they get more range time because of cost drop and if they need more they should be making a tactical retreat to a long gun. 150-250fps doesn't mean beans and isn't a game changer in a 124 grain pistol round. Just my 2 cents.

The .357 Sig is a fine defense round.

:iagree: I don't know if the lower cost will increase the range time, but I am all for more practice at the shooting range.

I read somewhere that the FBI was thinking about switching to 9mm. I don't know if this is just a rumor or if it is serious. The only link I could find on the FBI was here.
