This video helped me make the decision to stick with Big Dots http://youtu.be/Wl592Hfwtpg
Worsening eyesight is exactly why I like the HD/big dot type sights as well. My first exposure was on my snubbie, and ever since then, pretty much every handgun I've bought (and one shotgun) gets an upgrade to HD/big dot sights shortly after purchase.

There is a school of thought (which makes a certain amount of sense) that says that if there isn't enough light to see your sights, then you've got no business pulling the trigger. And that is to an extent true. But when you have bad eyes, as the guy in your video pointed out, being able to see the front sight without your glasses is a big plus in broad daylight. And frankly, I can see certain situations in which shooting in pitch black (without night sights) might still be the better alternative if your survival is at stake......unless you have no sense of hearing or smell either, and no sense of direction.

But even so, there is a broad range of lighting conditions under which there isn't enough light to see the sights without tritium, but there is still enough light to shoot with tritium.

I am very pleased with the TRUGLO TFX sights on my guns.

There is one other purpose for night sights we haven't mentioned in this thread yet. I have a light attached to my handgun next to my bed. When the light is activated I can see the orange front sight. One benefit of having night sights on my handgun is that it makes in easier to find quickly in the middle of the night on the nightstand.
