Black ice all over. You don't see it until its too late. Lots of of BAD car wrecks and broken hips from falls today. Careful out there.

We took today to completely pull out all of our emergency food supplies and put new shelves in, resort, catalog and check expiration dates. We estimate 2 months worth of dried goods, including canned goods, canned meats, freeze dried vegetables, fruit and meat, MRE’s and assorted spices, and condiments. Cooking fuel and matches, and a few other miscellaneous stuff.

And we Houstonians thought you meant Immigration and Customs Enforcement. :biggrinjester:

But seriously, everybody stay safe. In Htown we're only supposed to see a little rain and mid-30s, but places as close as College Station are supposed to get freezing precip and overpasses are susceptible to icing.

That’s ok - the libs in Austin thought you meant Internal Combustion Engine (instead of their beloved Energizer bunny cars)!

This North Texan thought the same thing. I was worried I would have to find a new lawn maintenance crew. :biggrinjester:

here is a laugh
just took dog out for her last pee of the night
as i was standing on porch listening to the rain softly on the roof, it dawned on me...hey its awfully quiet rain drops and water fallign from roof line about 4 feet above porch roof. i see ice hanging off ends and water running off

inside i look at yard camera and sure enough the porch roof is covered in snow/ice about 1/2 " thick

its just 30 right now and expected to be 27 to 28 over night for prolonged period

yep tomorrow is going to be a stay off the road and stay home day :thumbs2:

The concrete in my yard is wet but not frozen. Same for the road in front of the house. Happily.

Hopefully we get some sun later today and this is all a cold memory by tomorrow.

I made it to work just fine Wednesday afternoon and ended up working almost a double because one of our night techs called in saying they couldn't make it because of ice. :mad5

A couple day folks came in early to relieve me and I left at 0300. I was going to come home and take my wife in, but two techs in her lab called in, so she went back in after a 6 hour turnaround after working an 10 hour day and worked overnight from 2200-0830. I ended up taking a 2 hour nap and going to get her then took her back this morning since we had left her car.

I had no trouble getting around and didn't even have to resort to using my 4-wheel drive like I did for a couple days during that snow stuff last month. Driving slower and couldn't manage more than 40mph on the highway coming home Thursday morning, but no real issues on bridges or small hills.
