*sigh* another fight tonight at the bar I work at

Was my off night tonight, I played some pool and brought my girlfriend and the bartender some food, had a couple drinks, and went home early because I was tired (I'll usually stay till closing time if I go up on my off day, just because that's when the misses leaves anyways).

So I don't know the full story, but we've got a group of "regulars" that comes there almost every night, they're known to us to be drug dealers/gang members, but have always been fine, never caused problems, tip well, and are always nice to everyone there. I've never talked to them, but then I've never really had a reason to, they usually just sit at the bar.

At any rate, tonight for whatever reason, they jumped an otherwise perfectly harmless kid right outside our bar, got him pretty good. A young guy that has been coming there lately who used to hang out with one of our bartenders, pretty good pool player, gambles occasionally, but is one of the more honest guys I've met judging from the short time I've known him. From what my girlfriend said, he didn't even know what the heck happened, he said he was going to his car and they just came up and started kicking him on the ground, etc.

But relax everyone. The drug dealers are safe! I can't carry my gun in there! I'm sure everyone feels safer due to that fact! I sure feel safe about my girlfriend being one of the last to leave on the nights that I'm not there!

Yeah, I had that discussion with srothstein in a thread started by myself.

The boss/manager is my girlfriend. Incidentally, she "doesn't know why I carry it everywhere" and thinks I'm "never gonna need it."

I just recently got her to start locking the damn door at night. Before that, I'd get here late after work at night, and she'd be taking a shower at 2am with the door unlocked. She hasn't yet stepped out of the happy-happy-joy-joy bubble where nothing bad happens.

With that said, I used to at least carry after hours, and tomorrow being the first weekend since this happened, I will be again for sure. I don't like carrying ON the job so much as there are people EVERYWHERE, way too many to watch my back for.

Would be a lot easier if when the CHL law was passed the hippies wouldn't have cried so much. Blood in the streets...

Last I talked to her about it, the decision was still that we were banning the big bad thugs from the place. They are gang members afterall though. Hopefully they don't come back.

I do. I was there on my day off that night, since the manager is my girlfriend I often hang out there on nights off.

I wasn't working THAT NIGHT, so I couldn't have every carried that night anyway. I only work there on weekends, as it's not my primary job.
