For those coming up on their first renewal..........

Post by AEA »

Just thought I would post this about the renewal process for those that are coming up on time to do their first renewal and might be wondering if you have to go through that whole process of listing any offenses you may have had in the past that you listed on your first application.

There is none of that. All you have to do is initial an affidavit in numerous places that basically says you have had nothing other than a traffic ticket type offense since your original issue.

Easy, really easy and quick.

Also, FYI, the "Texas Concealed Handgun Laws" that they are currently shipping out are the "2005-2006" version.......

Did anything change this year that directly affects CHL holders and would be on the test, other than removing any duty to retreat (which I don't recall being on the test)?

I can't answer that yet as my renewal class is not until the 28th. I was only commenting on the paperwork to submit for those that may have wondered.

I just remembered, I have a copy of the PDF from the DPS web site that is marked up with changes. There are quite a few changes to LGC 411.

I'm all for the state controlling spending, but they should have shredded the old books.

I think there are three changed questions. I would have to read over it to be sure.
fwiw, anyone hanging out on the Texaschlforum.com is going to ace it.
Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.
