Man killed in front of his wife - Suspects posing as LEO??

Man gunned down in front of his pregnant wife , Suspects may have been posing as police officers By Eric James
(11/02/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - Police say a man was gunned down in front of his pregnant wife Friday morning as he was about to leave for work.

It happened around 6am in front of a home on Dalton near Brockton in southeast Houston. According to the victim's wife, her husband was confronted by four men as he was leaving. There was an argument and minutes later, he was dead after one of the suspects shot him. Police aren't sure if there was an attempted robbery or if the victim was sought out in this case.

Authorities say the victim in this shooting had just kissed his pregnant wife goodbye and a few moments later, she and her three children watched him die.

There is some concern that one of the men in the shooting may have been posing as a police officer.

"The wife is unsure about that. She said they could have told her to get back inside because they were police, but that could have been just a tactic just to try to get her away," said Sgt C. Elliott with the Houston Police Department. "They also threatened to shoot her with a gun which is not something a police officer would have done."

Shortly after the shooting, police did pick up a man with a police jacket. They don't think he has anything to do with the shooting, but they did take him into custody.

Initial interviews so far from witnesses are leading police to believe that this was a random crime.
If you don't stand for something, then you will fall for anything.
