CHL while fishing Lake Ray Hubbard?

Post by Lynn51 »

Is it legal to carry while fishing on a lake such as Ray Hubbard? I have searched and did not get the answer I need.
In another forum I have read that Hubbard is a Corp of Eng lake so it is gov. property. If you get caught ,such as while being checked by a Game Warden it could cost your CHL.

Lake Ray Hubbard is owned by the City of Dallas, and is not a COE lake. You can legally carry with your CHL.

Thanks for the information. I don't want to leave my carry gun in the vehicle, but I don't want to leave home without it.

I do know that the corps of engineers manages the dam, but I didn't know the lake was city of dallas property, tho it makes sense, as driving over bridges, you're technically in Dallas when you do so.

Not to hijack, but I am finding there are places where it is more of a hinderance then a help to carry. The Meyerson for example. The seats are so narrow it is very difficult to get up. Listen to me, blaming it on the seats, I think my big fat rear might have something to do with it.

Here's something funny, last weekend, I was made by the usher. He said, excuse me sir, are you a cop? No. Is that a gun? None of your business. Sir with a quirky smile, (opens right jacket front JUSTTTTT a hair.. We smile and I have a very small drink. That was the first time I have even been called out. In a Symphony Hall for cryin out loud...

I can't tell you who manages the dam, but the City of Dallas owns it.

I know alot of people would say why would you need to carry while out on the lake.
It's not so much while on the lake it's in the parking lots coming and going.
Dallas Police patrol the lake in their boat also the Game Wardens. Another question would be if stopped by either while doing their boat safety checks or fishing licence checks I would need to inform either of them of my chl?.
I have had my chl for 10 years but my boat for only a year and I have never really thought about it. I have not been checked yet, but want to do the right thing if it happens.

If they ask you for ID or fishing liscence You should provide the CHL if you are carrying

+1 on the parking lots. I fish alot at night and the boat ramps late at night can be pretty creepy places while loading or unloading by yourself.
