no habla...

I think some may have seen at one point a "51%" TABC sign like that with the 51% in blue ink...

I want to say that I might have seen one like it, but I do not recall where...But the red ink signs...Yep, they are out there...

I do not think there is a difference in the meaning or authority of the signs, whether they are in red or blue print...

Their authority is clear to me regardless of pigmentation...

Whether or not they are valid postings, well, thats been the subject of many, many discussions here and elsewhere...

"(c) The sign required under Subsections (a) and (b) must give
notice in both English and Spanish that it is unlawful for a person
licensed under this subchapter to carry a handgun on the premises.
The sign must appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least
one inch in height and must include on its face the number "51" printed
in solid red at least five inches in height. The sign shall be displayed in
a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public."

The only way it could be blue is if the sun bleach "51".

I remember, but I think it was the actual alcohol license with different colored writing (i.e. red/blue) signifying 51% or not (supposedly.)

edit: found it
CWOOD wrote:Our good friend and poster here, srothstein, who works for TABC gave us an excellent way to answer this question. This was during a discussion about a month ago about how to tell if a place was 51% or not.

His excellent and practical advice was to look at the TABC license at the establishment in question. This license is required to be posted in a place visible to the public.

Look in the center of the license and you will see one of the following designations"
SIGN=RED or SIGN=BLUE

SIGN=RED means it is a 51% establishment

SIGN=BLUE means it is not a 51% establishment

If in doubt, disarm before you check the license. That way you will be covered if it reads 'red' and can go ahead and re-arm if it is 'blue'.

Thanks a lot to srothstein for this helpful tip.

I believe the op is referencing the TABC permit/license. Search on the Alamo Draft House thread or just for TABC License to see the info posted by srothstein (definitatly direct from horses mouth)

Shall I stir the pot??? Yes, I believe I will... :twisted:

If its not a "red" lettered 51% TABC sign, it is not applicable...And can be ignored... :twisted:

Actually, there is no requirement for you to obey a red 51% sign, nor is it a defense for you if there is no sign posted and you carry in a 51% place.

The 51% law that affects CHLers makes no mention of ANY sign. I have seen signs misplaced, and have seen places that shoud have been posted NOT be posted.
