there is no blue 51% signRussell wrote:I know the difference between the unlicensed possession signs that are posted at places that sell alcohol for consumption off-premesis and other signs. I vaguely recall either reading a post here or hearing my instructor talk about the difference between the red 51 and blue 51.
Was hoping somebody here might have heard the same thing.
I remember, but I think it was the actual alcohol license with different colored writing (i.e. red/blue) signifying 51% or not (supposedly.)Russell wrote:I know the difference between the unlicensed possession signs that are posted at places that sell alcohol for consumption off-premesis and other signs. His excellent and practical advice was to look at the TABC license at the establishment in question. This license is required to be posted in a place visible to the public.
Look in the center of the license and you will see one of the following designations"
SIGN=RED or SIGN=BLUE
SIGN=RED means it is a 51% establishment
SIGN=BLUE means it is not a 51% establishment
If in doubt, disarm before you check the license. That way you will be covered if it reads 'red' and can go ahead and re-arm if it is 'blue'.
Thanks a lot to srothstein for this helpful tip.
Actually, there is no requirement for you to obey a red 51% sign, nor is it a defense for you if there is no sign posted and you carry in a 51% place.stevie_d_64 wrote:Shall I stir the pot??? Yes, I believe I will...![]()
If its not a "red" lettered 51% TABC sign, it is not applicable...And can be ignored...![]()
